Coen Expeditions is located approximately ten (10) miles northeast of Golconda, Illinois, in Pope County's prime white-tailed deer and wild turkey habitat and smack in the middle of the Shawnee National Forest. The grounds are located at the confluence of the Big Grand Pierre Creek and Hobbs Creek, just eight (8) miles upstream from the Ohio River. A 4,000 square-foot Lodge offers a full range of amenities, unmatched in the area.
Coen Expeditions is Pope County's finest privately-owned Hunting Lodge facility. We're dedicated to discriminating sportsmen who are looking for a quality outdoor adventure. We offer deer and turkey hunting and fishing expeditions in a relaxed setting that allows the outdoorsman to concentrate on getting the game. A warm dry bed, hot showers, knowledgeable guides, and home-cooked food make for a memorable outdoor experience that is once again an integral part of our Illinois heritage.
Coen Expeditions has prime acreage in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest, a sanctuary for wildlife that boasts some of the State's highest populations of whitetail deer and eastern wild turkey. The varied topography of our hunt area features heavily wooded oak/hickory hillsides, soft woods riparian habitats and grassy glades, interspersed with the latest in agricultural wildlife food plots.
Coen Expeditions maintains a nurturing habitat for all wild game. We feature stands of many food crops including alfalfa, clover, biologic, buck forage oats, milo, corn, and winter wheat. Many different varieties of oaks provide abundant mast. We believe there is no finer opportunity for Trophy-Class Bucks and Gargantuan Gobblers than right here in southeastern Illinois!
Special attention is given to each outdoor experience, whether it is for you as an individual, or for your group. We match guides and equipment to your specific needs and desires, to maximize your outdoor experience. We insist on the use of trained bird dogs on all upland game and migratory waterfowl hunts. We highly recommend “catch and release” for all our fishing adventures
